2021 | Venue Bookings Coordinator | Melbourne
The Role
Joined the Victorian Pride Centre during its opening year to lead venue bookings and develop the operational collateral required for hirers and tenants of Australia’s first purpose-built LGBTIQA+ community space.
The role involved establishing the booking framework from the ground up — the Centre had only just opened, which meant designing the systems, processes, and documents that would support hirers from community groups, advocacy organisations, performance companies, and corporate stakeholders.
The Work
- Managed all venue hire enquiries, site visits, and bookings across the Centre’s spaces
- Created operational collateral for hirers and tenants — venue guides, technical specifications, AV instructions, accessibility information
- Liaised with resident tenant organisations on shared-space arrangements
- Supported the Centre’s broader administrative functions during a foundational period
The Outcome
Helped establish the operational backbone of a brand-new venue during its first year — turning a freshly opened building into a functioning, bookable, hireable community space. The collateral developed in this role supported hirers and tenants well beyond my time there.
About This Project
The Victorian Pride Centre is Australia’s first purpose-built home for LGBTIQA+ communities, a safe and inclusive space for all. Officially opening in 2021, the Centre stands as a powerful physical manifestation of pride in Victoria. It honours and celebrates the communities’ courageous and, at times, challenging past, while paving new directions for a vibrant future.
Within its walls are practical and supportive services, advocacy organisations, affirming spaces, and opportunities for connection.
The Centre serves as a hub for LGBTIQA+ groups and organisations to share ideas and resources and to further their work in supporting equality, diversity and inclusion across the state.
