2021 | Operations Coordinator | Melbourne
RISING is a major cultural event for the Asia Pacific Region, created by a diverse team of local, national and international artists and curators.
RISING will begin on the evening of the total lunar eclipse in May 2021. Interlocking circles of experience and connection will radiate through the night, as the city re-synchronises and is re-energised with public art, performance and music spanning the emerging and iconic, the epic and intimate.
The inaugural festival will take place 26 May – 6 June 2021 in the heart of Melbourne.
Supported the Senior Operations Manager in the operational delivery of RISING, with a key focus on accreditation, risk management, and the creation of digital systems that improved safety, communication, and efficiency across the festival.
Responsibilities
- Managed the full accreditation process for staff, artists, contractors, and suppliers
- Developed and implemented electronic systems for incident logging, checklists, and reporting to streamline festival operations
- Assisted in compiling event documentation, including the Event Plan and compliance materials
- Supported the coordination of the Event Operations Centre, ensuring it was well-resourced and functional throughout the festival
- Collaborated with production, programming, and external partners to meet operational, safety, and accessibility requirements
- Helped implement contact tracing and COVID-safe procedures in line with government guidelines
- Contributed to staff and supplier briefings and maintained effective communication channels across departments
Role Legacy
Delivered a more connected, efficient, and accountable operations framework for RISING — introducing digital systems that strengthened event safety, coordination, and communication for one of Melbourne’s most ambitious cultural festivals.
