About Challenging Minds
Challenging Minds was a Northern Territory company supporting people facing the challenges of mental health concerns, significant life events and disability. The organisation believed disability should not define people — that our talents and strengths as individuals should — and built its work on honesty, reliability, and a commitment to helping the people it supported think a little differently about what was possible.
The company was founded by Peter Veltman, a close friend of mine. After his passing in 2023, Challenging Minds wound down.
My Role
I was engaged from the very start, working alongside Peter to translate his vision into a working organisation. Over four years we built its operational and digital foundations together — IT systems, finance processes, marketing materials, and the day-to-day operations that supported staff and participants alike.
Working with Peter was a privilege. The organisation he built — and what we made of it together — is something I’m proud to have been part of.
